Scheduling Your Newborn Session Because babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, all newborn session dates are considered tentative until baby arrives. Unless you have a scheduled induction or C-section, your session will be tentatively reserved for approximately 1–2 weeks after your due date. If baby arrives earlier or later than expected, your session date will simply be adjusted accordingly. Please keep Rachel updated as your due date approaches so we can plan the perfect timing for your newborn portraits. Best Time for Newborn Photos The ideal time for newborn photography is within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are sleepiest and most comfortable for posed images. After two weeks, babies often become more alert and sensitive, which can make posing more limited and may reduce the number of setups or final images captured. Sessions with older newborns are absolutely still possible and can be beautiful, but a simpler, more natural approach is usually recommended. For older newborn sessions, fewer outfit changes are encouraged so baby stays comfortable and relaxed throughout the experience.
