There is something incredibly special about gathering the people you love most and documenting those moments in a place that already holds so many family memories. This beautiful extended family photography session took place right on the family’s own lakefront property, creating a meaningful and breathtaking backdrop for their portraits.
With the lake stretching behind them, we captured a variety of family combinations—from the full extended family to smaller groupings and portraits of the grandchildren. Having everyone together made this session especially meaningful, and I loved being able to capture both the connections between generations and the individual personalities of the children.

The lake provided such a beautiful setting for their family photographs. The calm water, shoreline, and soft summer sky created a timeless backdrop without taking attention away from the people who matter most.
I especially loved the color palette they chose. The combination of soft pinks, coral, white, cream, and neutral tones coordinated beautifully with the natural surroundings and gave the portraits a light, classic summer feel.
Capturing Generations Together
Extended family sessions are such an important way to preserve family history. With multiple generations together, there are so many relationships to document—the grandparents with their grandchildren, siblings together, cousins growing up side by side, and the entire family gathered in one photograph.
