Beau’s First Birthday Cake Smash | Cleveland, Ohio

There’s something so special about celebrating a baby’s first birthday with a cake smash session—and Beau’s session was the perfect example of why I love photographing this milestone.

We started with some sweet portraits of Beau before bringing out the cake. His little “Beau” sweater was the perfect touch, and he was already showing off plenty of personality for the camera.

Then it was time for the cake smash!

Beau wasted no time getting into the fun. Before long, there was frosting everywhere—on his hands, his face, his clothes, and especially those adorable little toes! His expressions throughout the session were priceless, and watching him explore the cake made for so many fun candid images.

One of my favorite parts of first birthday sessions is that they don't have to be perfectly clean or perfectly posed. At this age, it's all about capturing who they are right now—their curiosity, expressions, little details, and the messy moments that parents will want to remember years from now.

Beau’s session gave us a wonderful mix of classic portraits and playful cake-smash images, creating a gallery that tells the whole story of his first birthday milestone.
