Carter’s Sweet Beginning | A 4-Day-Old Newborn Session

There is something truly magical about photographing a brand-new baby during those first few days of life, and sweet little Carter was an absolute dream at just 4 days old.

For Carter’s newborn session, his family chose a soft and timeless color palette of blues, creams, and neutral tones. These colors created a beautiful, peaceful feel throughout his portraits while keeping the focus exactly where it belongs — on this precious little boy and all of his brand-new details.

One of my favorite setups from Carter’s session was a special Winnie the Pooh-inspired setup, requested by his family. Bringing a meaningful theme into a newborn session is such a fun way to personalize these portraits and create images that feel like they belong specifically to your family. Carter looked absolutely adorable tucked into the honey pot, surrounded by the whimsical details of the Hundred Acre Wood, with his little Pooh-inspired friends nearby.

We also kept some of Carter’s portraits simple and classic. His sweet face, tiny fingers, peaceful expressions, and those perfect newborn features were beautifully captured against soft blue and cream tones. These timeless portraits will never go out of style and will always bring his family back to those very first days.

And, of course, we made sure to include portraits with Mom and Dad. Those early days can feel like a blur, but photographs like these preserve the connection, love, and overwhelming sweetness of welcoming a new baby into your family.
