The Stemple Family | A Summer Evening in the Medina Sunflower Fields

There are some families who come to you for a single session, and then there are the families who become part of your photography journey. The Stemple family is one of those families for me.

After photographing them for many years, it is always such a wonderful feeling when they step in front of my camera again. Every session gives me the chance to see how much the kids have grown, how their personalities have changed, and how their family story continues to unfold. That is one of my favorite parts of being a family photographer — getting to document these seasons of life year after year.
For their latest family session, we headed to the Medina sunflower fields for a beautiful summer evening surrounded by rows of bright, blooming sunflowers. The setting couldn't have been more perfect for their family portraits.
A Summer Family Session Among the Sunflowers
The sunflower fields provide such a gorgeous backdrop for family photography. The combination of the tall green leaves, golden blooms, open pathways, and evening sky creates portraits that feel both timeless and distinctly summertime.

For the Stemple family, this location was especially beautiful with their coordinating outfits. Mom's deep blue dress added a beautiful contrast to the warm yellows of the sunflowers, while the neutral tones worn by the kids and dad kept the overall look classic and natural.
This image in particular captures what I love about these sessions. Their family is framed perfectly beneath the rustic wooden arch, with the sunflower field stretching out behind them. It feels like a portrait that belongs not only to this particular summer, but to their family's history.

More Than Just a Family Picture
One of the greatest gifts of being a family photographer is knowing that these photographs will become more meaningful with time.
Today, the kids are standing beside their parents in a sunflower field. Years from now, they will look back and remember how little they were, what they wore, how tall they were compared to Mom and Dad, and what this particular season of their childhood looked like.
That is why I love creating images that go beyond simply getting everyone to look at the camera. I want to capture the connection, personalities, and little details that make each family uniquely theirs.
And when families return to me year after year, I get the incredible privilege of watching those stories unfold.

To the Stemple family — thank you for trusting Rachel Good Photography with your family memories for so many years. It means more than you know to have families continue to choose me to document their lives.
From one season to the next, from little milestones to family portraits, these photographs become a visual history of your family — and I am so grateful to be the one behind the camera.
This summer evening in the Medina sunflower fields was another beautiful chapter in the Stemple family's story, and I can't wait to see what the next one brings.
